Tim Tszyu v Takeshi Inoue Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Tim Tszyu believes he will be a future world champion – and I completely agree with him. The 27-year-old will always be in the shadow of his father – Kostya – until he competes and dominates on the world stage.

Tszyu is actually the mandatory challenger for the WBO title, but he has admitted he hasn’t got a clue what is happening with that. Current champion Brian Castano fought a 12-round draw with Jermell Charlo in July.

Tszyu doesn’t know if those two are going to fight each other again, meaning he will have to wait for his title opportunity. He cannot think about that now as he has Takeshi Inoue standing in his way.

The Japan fighter looks in amazing condition as he prepares to take on Tszyu in Sydney on Wednesday, but I believe Tszyu is on a path to greatness, and he will not let anything stand in his way.

The Australian has always been hammered with remarks saying he has only got where he is because of his dad. That is untrue, Tszyu is a great fighter in his own right, it’s not his fault he inherited those amazing fighting genes for his father.

Tszyu has yet to taste defeat as a professional. He has had 19 fights and 15 of those wins have come by way of knockout. Inoue only has one defeat on his resume. He was defeated on points by Jaime Mungia in 2019.

Since that win, he has won four fights in succession and comes into this bout on the back of a unanimous points win over Nath Nwachukwu.

I don’t want to sound disrespectful to Inoue, but this is all about Tszyu. The Japanese fighter will not have been in the ring against anyone like Tszyu. It won’t be a first-round squash fight, as Inoue can throw them when he wants to.

I just think Tszyu is more intelligent, and he will take his time working out Inoue before getting him out late in the fight. I am backing the Aussie to win this by knockout in the seventh.

Tim Tszyu v Takeshi Inoue Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter’s Predictions

Tim Tszyu: “Sydney has been in lockdown for the past three, four months, so it’s good to be back home. It’s good to be fighting in front of Sydney fans, I think they deserve a big event. Every opponent is different; styles make fights. He could be the easiest, he could be the hardest, but [you would think] he’d be up there in the top three. He’s tough. He gave it to (then-WBO junior middleweight titleholder Jaime) Munguia. Munguia outboxed him. (Inoue) comes with the attitude that he wants to win. He’s a brawler, he’s a strong boy, he’s stocky, he’s definitely got some power, he’s got a few dangerous punches, he’s got an overhand right that is hard to see. He shuts the distance down well; he puts some good pressure. I think my boxing IQ is going to allow me to dictate and win this fight. It’s going to be an interesting fight. Inoue’s going to be hard to get out because he’s durable. These Japanese fighters, you keep hitting them and they keep coming, they’re tough. It will be a statement if I do stop him and that’s exactly my plan. (About his world title shot) It’s a weird situation because I don’t understand what’s going on with those two. I think both boys are on honeymoons, they’re enjoying their lives. It’s not the way a true fighter should be. Look at Canelo, he’s had four fights [in a year], he’s not stopped, he’s pursuing goals. They need to just get the fight on and if they’re not fighting each other then start fighting other people. I’ll go fight someone else in the meantime until the boys have finished their honeymoon.”

Takeshi Inoue: “My condition has gotten better and also my punch is now very, very powerful so I can beat Tim Tszyu. I respect his results because Tim Tszyu has not lost. I also respect his boxing technique and I basically respect everything about him. But towards the end of the fight, I’m thinking of knockout. That’s how I’m practising. Tim Tszyu has only ever fought in Australia, he hasn’t got experience overseas. I have more experience, including against Munguia, when although I lost, the fight was very close. I’m confident, I have much more experience so I think I can beat Tim Tszyu.”

Tatsuya Saita (Inoue’s trainer): “It is a mistake. If I were Tim’s promoter, I wouldn’t let him challenge Takeshi. He has chosen Takeshi and he may regret his chance. Tim Tszyu’s experience is limited to fighting in Australia. I don’t think he has fought a boxer as heavy as Takeshi, most of his opponents were lighter. Although he has fought against Denis Hogan, when I watched the match I didn’t think Tszyu was that strong. Takeshi could possibly exceed Denis Hogan two or three times.”
