Terri Harper v Ivana Habazin Female Boxing Betting Tips
Doncaster’s Terri Harper will once again be looking to prove she is in the right division when she defends her WBO super welterweight belt against Ivana Habazin in Manchester on the Mauricio Lara versus Leigh Wood undercard.
Harper was scheduled to fight the experienced Cecilia Braekhus last weekend on the Katie Taylor v Chantelle Cameron undercard, but Braekhus withdrew on the morning of the fight due to illness.
Habazin has now stepped in with just one of Harper’s two belts on the line at the Manchester Arena on Saturday evening.
Many people thought Harper’s career was on a downward spiral when she was brutally beaten by Alycia Baumgardner the night she lost her WBC and IBO super featherweight titles.
She went back to the gym and worked hard and moved up to lightweight for one bout before jumping up to the super welterweight division.
Her first fight at that weight saw her defeat Hannah Rankin for the WBA and IBO straps. Harper was awarded the decision on points and will now defend the belts for the first time.
She takes on Croatia’s Habazin who has 25 professional fights under her belt. She has won 21 and lost four.
Habazin was comfortably beaten by Claressa Shields back in 2020, but she comes into this bout on the back of a points decision victory over Diana Prazak last October.
The Croatian is a competent fighter, but Harper will be too strong and quick for her. I cannot see a knockout due to the two-minute rounds, but I am backing Harper to get her arm raised on points.
