Sunny Edwards v Muhammad Waseem IBF Flyweight Title Fight Betting Tips & Predictions
Looking at him, you would think that Sunny Edwards had never eaten a good meal.
Well, looks are deceiving. Edwards is one of the best fighters in the 112 pounds weight limit and he will be looking to show his dominance by successfully defending his IBF flyweight title.
The 26-year-old was crowned world champion back in April 2021 when he won a unanimous decision against Moruti Mthalane at York Hall.
He got the same decision eight months later when he won his first title defence in Dubai against Jayson Mama.
Edwards has yet to taste defeat. Although it looks like a gust of wind will take him off and away, he has won four by knockout and 13 by decision.
He will be going up against Pakistan fighter Muhammad Waseem who has already fought for this title in the past. Back in July 2018, Waseem lost on points to the guy from who Edwards won the title – Mthalane.
Waseem won bronze at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 2014 Games before turning professional in October 2015.
He only has one defeat on his record. Eight of his 12 wins have come by way of knockout, so Edwards will need to avoid the big shots if he is to win this one.
It’s safe to say, Waseem is the bigger puncher. He has a 67% knockout percentage compared to Edwards’ 24%, but the Englishman is the better fighter overall.
Edwards is currently ranked number three in the world at flyweight by RING Magazine, and he knows a convincing win will see him remain as one of the most dangerous fighters in the division.
Edwards will get his arm raised at the end of this contest. I don’t think he has the power to knock Waseem out, but he will outbox him for 12 rounds and win on points by a majority decision.
