Lewis Ritson v Ohara Davies Boxing Betting Tips
Two British light welterweight title hopefuls will go toe-to-toe in Newcastle on Saturday, and I am backing the hometown hero to get his hand raised after 12 rounds.
Newcastle-born Ritson has a professional fighting record of 25 fights and two defeats. He has claimed 13 victories by way of knockout and 10 on points.
His first defeat was in his 18th professional bout when he lost a split decision to Francesco Patera. He went four fights unbeaten before being stopped by Jeremias Ponce in the 10th round back in June 2021.
Since the Ponce defeat, he has won two in succession. First, Christian Uruzquieta retired in the ninth round before he won a unanimous decision against Dejan Zlaticanin.
That stoppage against Ponce hurt him in more ways than one. He basically had to start again and rebuild his reputation back up.
Ohara Davies has a similar record to Ritson. The Hackney-born fighter has won 22. Of his 24 bouts. He has lost two, while 16 of his 22 wins have been by way of knockout.
Davies’ two defeats came against Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall – so there is no shame in that at all considering they are two of the best in this division.
Since his loss to Catterall, Davies has won four fights on the spin with two on points, one by stoppage and one by retirement.
Davies is the more powerful puncher of the two. If Ritson can withstand a barrage of punches in the early rounds, then he has a good chance of going the distance.
Unfortunately for him, I feel Davies will be too strong and will force a late stoppage. I am backing Davies to knock Ritson out in the 10th round.
