Josh Taylor v Jose Ramirez Betting Tips & Predictions
Scotland’s Josh Taylor will put his WBA (Super), IBF and The Ring light welterweight titles on the line against defending WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez – the winner goes home will all the gold.
This will be Taylor’s 18th professional fight and his second defence since claiming all three titles. The 30-year-old first world title success was back in 2019 when he won a unanimous points decision over Ivan Baranchyk in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Super Series.
He then faced off against Regis Prograis at The O2 Arena in the WBSS Final, again he won on points as he retained his IBF title as well as adding the WBA (Super) and The Ring belts.
He then went on to defend all three titles last September and claimed a first-round knockout win over Apinun Khongsong to set up this unification bout with Ramirez.
Ramirez won the WBC belt in March 2018 when he won a unanimous points decision victory over Amir Imam. He then defended that title two more times before winning the WBO title on his third defence.
He earned a TKO victory over Maurice Hooker in Texas on July 27 to gain possession of two belts, while his last fight was a points win over Ukrainian Viktor Postol last August.
The two former Olympians might not get the big billing that other fighters receive, but they will put on a spectacle that will be talked about for a long time after.
Taylor and Ramirez both have the power to knock the other out, but they are also good on their feet and won’t be sent to the canvas easily. This will be an all-out war, but I am backing Taylor to get his hand raised at the hand and become the undisputed light welterweight champion of the world.
Josh Taylor v Jose Ramirez: Fighter Predictions
Josh Taylor: “You can ask any fighter, and they’ll all tell you that they’d love to fight in America. I’ve worked hard for this opportunity and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it. I’m not going to put any pressure on myself. I’ve achieved my goal of becoming a world champion. Everything else is a bonus if it happens. I really do believe this is the perfect time for me to make history and cement my legacy in the history books. I’m going to win this fight 100%, and America is getting ready to take notice of Josh Taylor. To Ramirez, be ready, train hard, and may the best man win. I wish him all the best. I will see you on May 22nd. To my fans, hopefully, I can provide you with a victory. I don’t feel any pressure. I don’t see how there could be any pressure. I have trained my whole life for this moment. It is a dream fight and if you ask any fighter on the planet if they would love to be a part of a fight like this – it is most fighters’ dream. There is no pressure at all, and I am going to enjoy the occasion and the opportunity to be the first Scotsman to do it. I have got the bit between my teeth and cannot wait to get in there. Already, I am really buzzing. It is a dream fight, the jackpot of fights. You don’t get fights like this coming along very often for all the belts. It is the biggest fight out there and really the biggest fight of my career. I have worked towards this my whole adult life and I am absolutely buzzing.”
