Josh Taylor v Jack Catterall Undisputed Light Welterweight Title Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions
Just as we are getting our breath back following an amazing night of boxing in Manchester on the Amir Khan versus Kell Brook card, we head to Scotland for another thrilling night.
The OVO Hydro in Glasgow is set to witness another momentous occasion as Josh Taylor will be hoping for as much home support as possible as he puts his belts and unbeaten record on the line.
Taylor holds the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring light welterweight belts, and it would be easy to suggest Saturday will be another routine night – but it will be far from that.
Chorley’s Jack Catterall is well aware he is the underdog, and he will have to contend with a vocal crowd against him – but he is no mug.
The 28-year-old heads to Glasgow with an unbeaten record of 26 fights and 26 wins. Thirteen of those wins have come by knockout with the other 13 by decision.
I expect fireworks in this one. Catterall has nothing to lose, while Taylor will relish this occasion and will be looking to end this one by knockout.
Taylor – who is unbeaten in 18 fights – won the IBF belt back in May 2019 when he defeated Ivan Baranchyk on points. He then added the WBA (Super) and The Ring titles with his biggest win to date – a points decision victory over Regis Prograis.
The world was Taylor’s oyster, and he added more titles in September 2021 when he beat Jose Ramirez on points to claim the WBC and WBO belts.
All of those will be on the line on Saturday.
It is easy to look at Catterall’s record and say that he has not faced anyone, but that is not necessarily his fault. He fights who is put in front of him – it’s as simple as that.
To claim 13 knockout wins proves he packs more than a punch. Unfortunately for him, I cannot see him knocking out Taylor.
Saying that, Taylor will have to be at his best to stop that from happening.
I am a massive fan of both of these fighters. And with Catterall coming from Chorley, I will be cheering him on from my couch in Wigan. I just think Taylor edges this one.
Expect plenty of action in this one. These two will not take a backward step and they will be going for the knockout right from the opening bell.
I feel we will be in for 12 rounds of amazing action. In the end, I expect Taylor to get his hand raised to keep all his belts. Back him to win on points.
Josh Taylor v Jack Catterall Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter's Predictions
Josh Taylor: “It will mean the world to me to prolong my time with all these belts. I don’t want to get beaten, I have a fear of losing, I’m a born winner. I’m competitive in everything I do and everything I do is geared towards winning. Jack is a very good opponent, he does things well and is very well rounded. I rate him highly. But I’m here to be on top for as long as I can in the sport. I like to show respect. But it depends on how they act towards you. It is calm and relaxed – but there is time for the needle to come! And it will come. The closer the fight gets, it will come. He’s a good fighter, I’ve got a lot of respect for Jack. But he will come up short. He will taste his first defeat as a professional. He’s a good fighter. He just isn’t as good as I am. It is a step up in class for him because he hasn’t boxed at the level that I have. He is a talented fighter, but he hasn’t got what it takes to beat me.”
