Joseph Parker v Junior Fa Betting Tips & Predictions

Joseph Parker is well aware that he needs to put in an impressive performance against Junior Fa if he is to become WBO Interim Oriental heavyweight champion and set up future bouts against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Parker held the WBO heavyweight belt from December 2016 until March 2018 and had two successful title defences. The New Zealander was crowned champion after winning the vacant belt with a unanimous points decision win over Andy Ruiz Jr.

He then went on to defend the title twice with victories over Razvan Cojanu and Hughie Fury, but his run came to an end in Cardiff when he lost on points to Anthony Joshua as the British fighter added the WBO crown to his WBA (Super) IBF and IBO titles.

Parker has only lost two fights in his professional career, the one against Joshua and then his next fight when he once again lost on points to Dillian Whyte at The O2 Arena in London. Parker is no mug, but despite three successive wins against Alexander Flores, Alex Leapai and Shawndell Withers, he needs to beat a top contender to even be considered for a big fight.

His opponent is currently unbeaten and will fancy chances of adding his first big name scalp to the 19 victims he has already defeated.

Fa has won 19 professional fights with 10 by knockout and nine on points, but he has not faced anyone as intimidating as Parker.

Parker has plenty of experience and he also has the punching power to knock out anyone he faces. I expect this contest to be a blood and thunder affair, with Parker taking this one late on. It certainly has the potential to go the distance, but I expect Parker to stop Fa in the 10th and send a message to the rest of the heavyweights that he is not going anywhere any time soon.

Road To Joseph Parker v Junior Fa

This fight has been in the pipeline since 2018 when Fa won the WBO Interim Oriental belt. Despite Parker being a former WBO heavyweight title, the rankings always had Fa ahead of Parker, something that has infuriated the former champion.

Initial talks took place in September, but both teams couldn’t agree terms regarding the purse split, so Parker went on to fight Flores instead with Fa on the undercard against Rogelio Rossi.

Parker’s team have always been under the impression that Fa is not in Parker’s league, and will find out if that is the case on February 27.

When talks for this fight started up again, both teams continued to throw verbal barbs at each other regarding the prize money, and the fight was finally signed for December 11 at the Spark Arena. That bout was eventually postponed, and we now get to see these two throw down at the same arena at the end of February.

Joseph Parker v Junior Fa: Fighter’s Predictions

Joseph Parker: “We’d been working really hard to ensure I peaked in December and delivered a performance that would have made the heavyweight division sit up and take notice. So, it was very disappointing when Junior had to postpone. But these things happen in boxing. The good thing is that Junior is now on track to be 100 percent fit and ready to go in February. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Junior Fa: “I’ve been looking forward to this fight for a long time now, so to once again have a date locked in is great. Joseph Parker has held a world title before, so when I beat him, I’ll be a giant step closer to realising my own dream.”
