Joseph Parker v Jack Massey Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions
Joseph Parker will be looking to bounce back from a knockout loss to Joe Joyce when he takes on Jack Massey on the Chris Eubank Junior versus Liam Smith undercard.
The New Zealand fighter won the vacant WBO heavyweight title in 2016 when he won a majority points decision.
He successfully defended that belt twice before he lost it to Anthony Joshua in Cardiff. Since then, he has not won any world titles, but he has won the WBC Silver, WBO International, WBO Oriental and WBO Inter-Continental belts.
Those wins rewarded him with a shot at the interim WBO heavyweight title, but he fell short as Joyce knocked him out in the 11th round of a brutal encounter.
Victory over Massey will see him back in the conversation to become a world champion – whether or not he is talented enough to be a champion again remains to be seen.
Derbyshire fighter Massey has one defeat on his record – a points loss to Richard Riakporhe for the British cruiserweight title in 2019.
He has won three fights in succession since that loss against Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid, Engin Karrakaplan, Bilal Laggoune and Vaclav Pejsar. The win over Laggoune was for the vacant IBO cruiserweight belt.
Massey is taking a massive risk by taking this fight. It will be his first bout in the heavyweight division, but he feels he needs to take it to get back in the ring and save his career.
Massey has not been in the ring since April, and he faces an uphill battle in getting past Parker.
I think Parker’s experience in this division will give him the edge. Massey will give it his all, but I am backing Parker to win on points after 12 rounds.
