Joe Cordina v Kenichi Ogawa IBF Super Featherweight Title Fight Tips & Predictions

Welshman Joe Cordina will be hoping the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff will be rocking on Saturday evening when he attempts to become a first-time world champion.

Cordina is undefeated as a professional fighter. He has had 14 fights since turning pro following his semi-final defeat at the 2016 Brazil Olympics.

He has won eight of his 14 fights by way of knockout. It is safe to say that this will be Cordina’s toughest fight and considering it is for a world title, I should hope so.

Cordina’s last fight was at the Echo Arena in Liverpool when he defeated Miko Khatchatryan by unanimous decision as he retained his WBA continental super featherweight belt.

Kenichi Ogawa will be defending his IBF belt for the first time. He was crowned champion when he won the vacant strap with a unanimous points decision victory over Azinga Fuzile last November.

Ogawa’s only defeat as a professional was against Tevin Farmer, but Cordina is a step up in class of all his opponents so far.

Cordina has only stopped one of his last four opponents, but I cannot see this one going the distance. The Welshman is a big puncher and he think he will overpower his Japanese opponent with relative ease.

I can see Cordina dominating from the opening bell, and he will finish it by stopping Ogawa in round six and fulfilling his dream of becoming a world champion.
