Hughie Fury v Christian Hammer Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Dave Kuzio:
Hughie Fury

Hughie Fury will be looking to move a step closer to a world heavyweight title shot when he takes on Christian Hammer at the Newcastle Arena on Saturday evening.

Hughie Fury v Christian Hammer Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

The Fury name is probably the biggest in world boxing at the moment, and Hughie Fury will be determined to get a piece of the action.

Hughie’s cousin Tyson Fury knocked out Deontay Wilder last weekend to retain his WBC heavyweight title, and Hughie wants to be taken just as serious as his relative.

The 27-year-old has a professional record of 25 wins from 28 fights with three defeats. For many fighters, those three defeats would be a concern, but when you look at Fury’s age and the calibre of fighter he lost to, he still has time on his hands to improve.

His three defeats have been at the hands of Joseph Parker, Kubrat Pulev and Alexander Povetkin. All three of those men are quality fighters and have been in the rings with the best. There is no shame in losing to any of those three.

Since his last defeat at the hands of Povetkin, Fury has won two fights in succession. First, he claimed a TKO win over Pavel Sour before he won a unanimous points decision over the dangerous Mariusz Wach.

Aside from the fights he has lost, Christian Hammer is his toughest test. The German is a very awkward fighter. H might have lost seven professional fights, but you have to work hard to get him out of there. From those seven defeats, he has only been knocked out three times. That shows how difficult he is to fight against.

He has been in the ring with the likes of Luis Ortiz, Povetkin, David Price, Michael Sprott and Danny Williams. He has also shared the ring with Tyson Fury and had to retire in the eighth round.

Personally, I don’t think Hughie Fury is a future world champion. He is a good fighter, but I just feel there are a lot more fighters out there who are better than him.

Saying that I do think he is in the top tier below the elite. I am backing him to register his 26th win of his career. I expect this to go the distance. Fury has the ability to knock people out, but Hammer has concrete in his boots, and he will be very hard to knockdown. I am backing Fury to get his hand raised after 10 rounds of bruising action.

Hughie Fury v Christian Hammer Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter’s Predictions

Hughie Fury: “I’ve been in with a lot of fighters. Before it was a boy against a man, I was young, very young. I took all these fights against experienced fighters and now I’m coming of age myself and I’m ready to put that to work. Once you’ve got all that experience underneath you, you can take it as a win really because you can’t buy that experience. Everything’s going well, I’m ready to go. I’m definitely looking forward to it, it’s going to be good to be on the Newcastle bill so I’m excited. I’m expecting a tough Hammer. He’s very good, very durable, so I’m looking forward to a good test.”
