George Kambosos Jr v Maxi Hughes Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Australian fighter George Kambosos Jr has not won a fight since he became WBA (Super), IBF, WBO & The Ring lightweight champion of the world.

His greatest-ever performance took place on November 27 when he won a split decision over Teofimo Lopez to take the belts. It looked like it was Kambosos’ time to shine – unfortunately, that did not happen.

His first title defence ended up being his last. He was beaten by a unanimous decision by Devin Haney in Melbourne, Australia on June 5 2022.

He had a clause in the contract for a rematch. He took that bout on October 16 2022 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. The belts he had lost were on the line along with the WBC strap.

He came up short again as he lost another unanimous points decision. He knows he has to win convincingly against Maxi Hughes. This fight is an eliminator for the IBF lightweight belt.

Hughes is a former British lightweight champion with a professional record of 33 fights, 26 wins, five defeats and two draws.

The 33-year-old has been in the ring against the likes of Kid Galahad, Jono Carroll, Martin Joseph Ward, Ryan Moorhead, Scott Cardle and Ryan Walsh.

He is no mug, but I cannot see him beating Kambosos. The Australian has to be hungry after two defeats. I am backing him to win this one with a ninth-round stoppage. Hughes will be brave, but he will have no answer for Kambosos late in the fight.
