Daniel Dubois v Joe Cusumano Boxing Tips & Predictions

Just over two months ago, Daniel Dubois was the headline act at the Telford International Centre when he defeated Bogdan Dinu in the second round to win the vacant WBA interim heavyweight. Now he is on the undercard for the circus that is Jake Paul versus Tyron Woodley.

Dubois admits he is happy to take a back seat to Paul and his millions of YouTube followers. He just wants to let his boxing do the talking and show the American audience what he can do.

The jury is still out for many with Dubois. He suffered his only career loss against Joe Joyce last November, and although he dispatched of Dinu with no real problems, some are still questioning if he is the real deal or not.

All Dubois can do is keep taking the fights offered to him, keep learning and don’t let that defeat to Joyce be the only thing people talk about.

We know Dubois packs a punch. He will get the recognition he deserves if he keeps knocking people on their backsides – and that’s what he needs to do to Cusumano.

I have no doubt that Dubois is only this card to help sell Pay-Per-Views. Jake Paul needed the undercard to be special to add weight to the spectacle, and someone like Dubois will certainly add fireworks to the occasion.

I cannot see Cusumano causing any problems for Dubois. This fight is just to get the British fighter’s name out and about in the States. Do not blink, or go to make a cup of tea when this is on, because this will be over in the first round.

Daniel Dubois v Joe Cusumano Boxing Tips & Predictions: Fighter’s Predictions

Daniel Dubois: “I’ve always boxed in England, and that’s where I started to build my name. But now, I feel like this is my chance to come out and show the Americans what I can do. It’s what I’ve always worked towards. It’s a good opportunity. I’m glad I’m on the show and I think it’s going to be really good and turn out well, and maybe lead up to bigger and better things for me. It was good to shake off the cobwebs and get rid of all the nerves and whatever (against Dinu). It was just all about coming back, being a new person, a new fighter and just shaking off the doubters and all the things I had in my head going on after the [Joyce] fight. After the [Dinu] fight, I saw the light. And we were in darkness, so we just needed to head toward the light, you know? There’s always going to be doubters. You can’t please everyone in boxing. It’s always going to be that way, with people saying whatever they think about you. The loss was for me more to reflect on myself and the team around me, and all the changes I needed to make to be a better fighter. They’re going to be in for a treat. My style, the way I fight, is seek and destroy.”

Joe Cusumano: “I’m ready. I’ve been fighting for a long time, and I’m ready to let my skills show. I’m a lot better than what I’ve shown. I’ve really been working on my skills and how to show off what I can do. This is the perfect fight to do that. Dubois is an attacker like I am, and he’s young and hungry. This is a good fight. Both of us hit hard and fight to slug it out, but I believe the smarter man will win. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realised you can’t always just attack. This is the heavyweight division. Anything can happen. The older I’ve gotten, the smarter I’ve gotten. This is a dream come true.”
