Conor Benn v Chris Van Heerden Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Conor Benn will be looking to move one step close to a future world welterweight title fight when he takes on Chris van Heerden at the Manchester Arena.

Benn, who holds the WBA Continental title, is confident a world title belt is in his future, but he is not ready to risk everything and take fights he is not ready for.

The 25-year-old is happy to move up the rankings – he is ranked fifth by the WBA, WBO and IBF and 10th by The Ring magazine. He knows he has time on his side, and he is happy to learn on the job.

The son of former world champion Nigel has had 20 professional fights – winning 13 by knockout and seven on points.

Everyone wants to see him take on the likes of Errol Spence Jr, Yordenis Ugas and Terence Crawford, but he will only sign up for these fights when he 100% ready. He doesn’t want all his hard work to go to waste for a quick fix.

Van Heerden will arrive in Manchester fancying his chances of causing an upset and taking Benn’s EBA Continental belt.

The South African has had 32 professional fights, winning 28, losing two, one draw and one no contest.

His last fight ended prematurely in the first round against Jaron Ennis and was declared a no-contest after Van Heerden suffered a cut because of an accidental head clash.

Van Heerden, who has been in the ring with the likes of Errol Spence Jr and Matthew Hatton, hopefully, will come out swinging and won’t allow Benn to take over from the start.

Unfortunately, I cannot see Van Heerden living with Benn. Once the Destroyer is in the zone, he is difficult to get on top of.

Benn has won 13 fights by way of knockout. His last win saw him knock out Chris Algieri in the fourth round, and I am backing Benn to do the same in Manchester.

Back Benn to claim a knockout win in the fourth, but expect Van Heerden to hit the canvas a couple of times before the fight is finally stopped.
