Chris Eubank Jr v Wanik Awdijan Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

I have to say I am old enough to have witnessed Chris Eubank Snr in his pomp. Senior was a warrior in the ring.

He could pose and run away in the ring just as much as Floyd Mayweather did, but when he was called upon, he could dig deep and fight until the death.

Eubank Senior was a two-weight champion during his career. He took on all-comers and fought the best. I don’t see that in Junior. I am not sure how long he has left. Junior is already older than his dad was when he decided to hang his gloves up.

Is he running out of time to forge his own legacy, or is his legacy just being the son of Chris Eubank?

Maybe I am being harsh on Junior. He is a good fighter, and he has a lot of skills, but aside from his name, he is nothing like his dad in the ring. We all got excited when Senior jumped over the ropes, I certainly don’t get that same buzz when Junior does the same.

I am not denying Junior is a quality fighter, and maybe I am expecting too much because of his dad’s accomplishments. I just don’t get the hype.

Eubank Junior has two defeats under his belt against George Groves and Billy Joe Saunders, and aside from the win against James DeGale in 2019, every time Junior has fought a world-class fighter, he has come unstuck.

He went the distance last time out against Marcus Morrison. I am a fan of Morrison and have followed his career, and he shouldn’t have been able to last 10 rounds with someone like Eubank Junior. He did and full credit to him. Eubank needs to make more of a statement if he is to progress further up the ranks.

I feel like I am bagging on Junior, and I don’t really want to. This is a foregone conclusion. Eubank will win this fight with ease. But will we learn anything from this? I don’t think we will.

An early knockout win will not tell us anything we don’t already know. While going the distance against Awdijan will make us question whether he will ever be great.

Awdijan has been thrown in at the last minute because Eubank needs to get back in the ring. Eubank should have fought Anatoli Muratov on October 2nd, but there were a few concerns over the health of Muratov.

The concern surrounded his pre-fight medicals, and the decision was taken to stop him from entering the ring for his own safety.

German Awdijan shouldn’t really cause Eubank any problems. I think the Brighton-born fighter will be able to end this fight whenever he wants. A quick knockout doesn’t help anyone, so I am backing Eubank to end this one in the fourth.

I want Eubank to have a real test in the ring – this will not be it. I’m not sure whether the bigger names are avoiding Eubank, or if Junior is not trying his hardest to get them in the ring.

Chris Eubank Jr v Wanik Awdijan Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter’s Predictions

Chris Eubank Jr: “He couldn’t make the weight. He wanted to come in at 12st. We found someone else. He took that as me being scared. He took to social media and said some outlandish things. He is in a position where he has to back up the things that he has said. I’m interested to see, when we are face to face at the press conference and when we get in the ring, if he will have the same energy as he had on social media. I have a very good opponent – 28 wins, only one defeat, coming in from Germany. He’s ready to go, I’m ready to go. Before a fight you study the opponent, look at his fights, look at his strengths and weaknesses, how you can exploit him, figure out the best tactics. That has changed three times now. But this is my life. I have sparred and fought every type of opponent. I won’t see anything that I haven’t already seen a million times before. I need to adapt my style and strategy. We know what we are going to do with him.”

Roy Jones Jr (Eubank Jr’s trainer): “I love to have [Eubank Jr’s] engine running. When it is running, great things happen. I’m happy that he talked junk! It’s easy to adapt because I prepare him for whatever. If an opponent does A or B, he may come out and do C. My job is to get him ready. These are just hurdles. If you can’t overcome these hurdles, how do you expect to overcome the hurdle of becoming world champ?”
