Liam Smith v Chris Eubank Jr II Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Liam Smith dominated Chris Eubank Jr in every way when they met in January as the Liverpudlian knocked his opponent out in the fourth round.

These two have a fierce rivalry and this should be a thrilling contest.

Chris Eubank Junior is a lot like his father was when he was an active fighter – a great talent but not very likeable.

He boasts about his ability like his dad used to do, but just like Eubank Senior he can back that up in the ring – but it doesn’t mean the boxing fans have to like him.

Even in defeat, he is unlikeable. He rarely gives credit to his opponent, and when he does it’s a backhanded compliment. Deep down, I bet he thinks he was on top in his fight before he was stopped. Eubank Junior has three defeats on his record – against Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves.

Smith has three defeats under his belt, while he has won his last four bouts. His last loss was a controversial points decision defeat against Magomed Kurbanov in Russia, but since then he has beaten Eubank Jr, Anthony Fowler, Jessie Vargas and Hassan Mwakinyo.

Despite being from Liverpool, the majority of the Manchester crowd will be on Smith’s side once again. No one wants to see a fighter hurt, but a lot of fans would like to see Eubank Junior fall on his sword once again.

Eubank will come out all guns blazing against Smith. He will feel embarrassed at the way he was defeated and will still feel he can knock Smith out.

I expect Smith to take everything Eubank has to throw at him and grind out a win. I am backing this one to go longer than the first fight, I am backing Smith to stop Eubank for a second time – this time in the eighth.

This fight should have taken place initially on June 17, but due to a minor injury, Smith asked for the fight to be put back two weeks. Smith was not cleared to fight on the July 1st date, so we keep our fingers crossed for September 2.
