Chris Billam-Smith v Tommy McCarthy II Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions
Chris Billam-Smith and Tommy McCarthy already know each other quite well. They locked horns at Matchroom Headquarters on July 31 2021 with CBS getting his hand raised with a split decision victory.
McCarthy admitted he walked out of the ring in disgust after their last fight after he heard the third judge give it in favour of Billam-Smith 116-112.
McCarthy wants revenge as he still believes he won that fight and he is adamant he is the better boxer of the two.
The Irishman has a professional record of 21 fights, 18 victories and three defeats and this will be his first fight since losing to Billam-Smith and he is determined to set the record straight.
Billam-Smith has made sure he comes into this fight without any ring rust. He has fought since he beat McCarthy. He claimed a unanimous points decision win over Frenchman Dylan Bregeon last November as he retained his European title.
CBS has won 14 of his 15 fights, with 10 by knockout and four on points. His only defeat was against Richard Riakporhe when he lost a split points decision.
This one is tough to call. Both fighters believed they won the first fight. McCarthy probably has more to lose than Billam-Smith. If McCarthy wins there will be calls for a third fight, but if CBS wins then the rivalry is over, and McCarthy goes to the back of the queue.
I am backing McCarthy to gain his revenge and claim a very late stoppage in this one. The Irishman will need to fight smart and not go all gung-ho at the start. If he takes his time, then he will begin to dominate the fight and eventually stop Billam-Smith in the 11th.
