Road To Carl Frampton v Vahram Vardanyan

Carl Frampton is a former two-weight champion and he knows that a good win over Vahram Vardanyan will set up a WBO super-featherweight clash with champion Jamel Herring. This bout was originally scheduled to take place in Belfast, but the pandemic put a stop to that. Frampton can ensure this bout gets rescheduled with a convincing performance against Vardanyan. The Jackal has an impressive record of 27 wins from 29 bouts, with his only defeats coming at the hands of Leo Santa Cruz and Josh Warrington. Frampton was last in the ring in November 2019 when he won a unanimous points decision over Tyler McCreary in Las Vegas. His opponent is from Armenia, although he currently resides in Riga, Latvia, and has 21 victories under his belt with just one defeat. Vardanyan has not been in the ring with many big names, but he is a big puncher and if Frampton is more focused on his title fight, then he could be in trouble. Vardanyan’s last bout was back in February when he won a split decision over Yona Segu in Latvia.

Carl Frampton v Vahram Vardanyan Predictions & Tips

In all honesty, this is just a warm-up bout for Frampton as he gets ready to take on Herring later this year. Frampton’s main goal at the minute is to become the first Irishman to win three titles at three separate weight divisions, he will be saying all the right things about not looking past Vardanyan, but the honest truth is that he will be itching to get this over with and agree terms with Herring. Frampton should have no real problems when he steps into the ring at the BT Sports Studio in London, he will be eager to get some rounds under his belt but his fitness will be too strong for the Armenian and the Irishman will get him out of there in the later rounds. Back the Jackal to win this contest in the eighth round.

Carl Frampton v Vahram Vardanyan Preview: Fighter Predictions

Carl Frampton: “Vardanyan is a good fighter with a decent record. He looks wild and raw and looks like he can punch, so I’ll need to be at my best. He’s short and orthodox and wings in his shots. He’s boxed as heavy as light-welterweight, but says he can do 130lbs which is good. It’s going to be shown on ESPN and BT Sport and I’m looking forward to it. The objective is Herring, and I can’t take my eye off the ball. If Vardanyan beats me then his whole world opens up and he becomes a name overnight. He’ll be up for it, so I have to be at my best. I have to have my eyes on the prize, and that prize is Herring. I can’t for a second take this guy for granted, so I need to win and win well. I’m feeling good and sharp in the gym, and my weight is good, so I’m ready to put on a proper show.”
