Canelo Alvarez v Jermell Charlo Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Canelo Alvarez will be looking to prove he is still the king of the super middleweight division when he takes on unified light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas.

Only Canelo’s belts will be on the line in this super middleweight bout scheduled for 12 rounds with a weight limit of 168 pounds.

Canelo moved back to super middleweight after he was beaten by Dmitry Bivol last May when he challenged for the WBA (Super) light heavyweight title.

Since that defeat – which was only his second as a professional – he has beaten Gennady Golovkin and John Ryder on points and he now has his sights set on Charlo.

Charlo won the WBC light middleweight title for a second time with a knockout win over Tony Harrison – the man who had taken the title off him in the first place.

He then added the WBA (Super), IBF and The Ring belts with another knockout win against Jeison Rosario. He fought Brian Castano to a draw in 2021 to retain his belts with Castano keeping his WBO strap.

Charlo fought Castano again in May 2022 and became undisputed champion with a 10th round stoppage to add the WBO belt to his collection.

This will be a war. Both fighters do not know how to take a back step. I just feel that Canelo will be too smart for Charlo.

Charlo – in my opinion – will be gung-ho at the start and try to make a statement by knocking Canelo out. That tactic will not work, Canelo will be clever and fight his own fight. I am backing Canelo to retain his title on points.
