Canelo Alvarez v Gennady Golovkin Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

Canelo versus GGG will go down as one of the greatest rivalries in boxing history. These two have it all. Their first contest ended in a draw back in 2017, with many believing that Canelo was very lucky to get the draw.

The second fight was again tinged with controversy with Canelo getting the decision, but GGG felt he did enough to win. The stats backed that up, but the judges saw it differently.

The trilogy will be completed in Las Vegas with Canelo putting his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles on the line.

Canelo comes into this fight on the back of only his second professional defeat. He was beaten on points by Dmitry Bivol when he moved to the light heavyweight division to fight for the WBA (Super) belt.

Canelo is much better suited at super middleweight despite once holding the WBO light heavyweight title.

That defeat for Canelo was his first loss since losing to Floyd Mayweather Junior back in September 2013. That loss focused his mind, and he became a more determined and ruthless fighter.

GGG only has one professional defeat under his belt, and that was against Canelo. Since his loss in the second fight against the Mexican, GGG has won his last four fights against Steve Rolls, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Kamil Szeremeta and Ryota Murata – not the hardest of opponents but they are rounds in the bank.

GGG is still adamant he won the last two fights against Canelo, and he seemingly will not rest until he gets his arm raised in victory.

Many critics thought Canelo was done after his loss to Bivol, but I don’t think that is the case. Back at his normal weight, Canelo will prove why he is one of the all-time greats. I expect this to go the distance yet again with Canelo being the victor.

Canelo Alvarez v Gennady Golovkin Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter's Predictions

GGG: “In his last fight, the knockout was not necessary [to beat him]. It’s encouraging that the judges are not loyal to Canelo anymore. They don’t feel this burden of his image. [Canelo] doesn’t bother me at all, but when a person has a lot of bad traits, traits that get in the way of him living a normal life. That bothers him. That’s what we see right now.”

Canelo Alvarez: “I feel good. I’m in a position where I don’t need to take risks. But I like challenges. I like challenges. That’s why I picked Bivol, because I like challenges. And I [lost]. That’s it. When I win, I cheer and everything [When] I lose, I keep moving forward, keep focus. But still, I feel I’m still the best. Name a fighter who takes that kind of risk in that position—nobody. So, I feel I’m the best.”
