Canelo Alvarez v Caleb Plant Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions
This could be the fight of the year!
Saul Canelo Alvarez will put his WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles on the line against IBF champion Caleb Plant.
The winner of this fight will become the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion of the world.
The smart money will always be on Canelo. The guy is a freak of nature. The Mexican has won 56 of his 59 professional fights with one defeat and two draws. His only defeat was back in 2013 when he lost on points to Floyd Mayweather – nothing to be ashamed about with that defeat.
Canelo last fought in May 2021 when he beat Billy Joe Saunders when his corner threw the towel in because of a fractured orbital bone. That shows the punching power Canelo has.
Plant is no mug. He holds the IBF belt, so he is definitely dangerous. He won the title back in 2019 when he defeated Jose Uzcategul by unanimous decision. He has since defended his title three times against Mike Lee, Vincent Feigenbutz and Caleb Truax.
When you look at Plant’s record, he hasn’t fought the calibre of boxers that Alvarez has, but that doesn’t mean this will be a walkover.
There is plenty of bad blood between these two. A scuffle at the face-off a few weeks ago saw them screaming in each other’s faces. They pushed and shoved with Plant getting a cut under his eye.
This wasn’t for show, these two want to get it on in a big way.
Canelo is more experienced than Plant and that shows with the fighters he has gone up against. Plant has a professional record of 21 fights, 21 wins with 12 coming by way of knockout. Canelo has won 38 o his fights by knockout.
We all know the power Canelo possesses, but I like the look of Plant. I don’t think the American will win the bout, but I do see it going the distance. I am backing Canelo to win by unanimous decision, but Plant will do himself proud and give Canelo his hardest fight for years.

Canelo Alvarez: “That’s the goal, to be an all-time great. I’m so proud of trying to achieve that. I’m never going to stop until I try my best to be one of the all-time greats. Only one thing goes through my mind, and that’s winning. That’s the only thing I’m concerned about. Everything else is beyond me. The only thing I care about is what’s going to happen inside the ring on Saturday night.”
Caleb Plant: “It wasn’t my intention to get under his skin. Then again, I think you guys make a lot more of it than we do. I’m sure me and him both have been in worse scuffles than that and I’m sure most people in this room have been in worse scuffles than that. Again, like he said, when the bell rings, it’s completely different. I don’t take anything away from the press conference. Just by any means necessary of getting the job done. I feel like not just myself, my team, we’ve done that this far to get to this point. Me, whether it’s in boxing or whatever, by any means necessary I’ve got here. I’ve had plenty of chances to bow out. I’ve had plenty of chances to step away and say, ‘No, I’m done, I’ve had enough,’ and I haven’t. Saturday night, I just can’t wait for the bell to ring.”
