Amir Khan v Kell Brook Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions

It’s finally been agreed. The fight we have all been waiting for – Amir Khan versus Kell Brook. Oh, no wait. It’s the fight we all wanted about seven years ago.

Well, it has finally been agreed and the two hated rivals will do battle in February on Sky Box Office. Some fans will be excited about this fight, but the rest of us know that this fight is only happening because they can’t draw the big fights against anyone else anymore.

These two have been at each other’s throats for years, with Khan blaming Brook and Brook blaming Khan for the fight never going ahead.

Don’t get me wrong, I do want to see the fight. But I don’t believe it’s the big must-see fight that it will be presented as. Brook and Khan cannot live with the likes of Errol Spence Jr, Terence Crawford and Yordenis Ugas anymore and this fight had to be made or they wouldn’t be fighting anyone at all.

Being from Wigan, I would clearly favour the Lancashire fighter over one from Yorkshire. But being honest, these two both wind me up. I would probably favour Brook. I do think he is the tougher and better fighter.

Brook has a tremendous heart. And if it ends up being an all-out slugfest – then Brook will win quite comfortably. If Khan dictates the pace and targets Brook’s face – which has been broken many times – then he could pinch the win.

I am backing both fighters to be knocked to the canvas in the opening four rounds before Brook gets Khan out of there in the sixth round. Brook’s best chance is to go after Khan from the opening bell. If it goes to the latter rounds, then Brook could tire and Khan’s hand speed could be a serious problem.

Amir Khan v Kell Brook Boxing Betting Tips & Predictions: Fighter’s Predictions

Amir Khan: “What I’ve done in the sport. The name I’ve got. You can see how bitter he is. My celebrity status? That comes because of what I’ve achieved in the sport of boxing. It’s not because of other things. I have put on great performances, won world titles, made a name for myself in America. It all comes from boxing. How can you hate on that? I have capitalised on what I’ve done in boxing. He hates that. He can hate me as much as he wants. Once I beat him, he will hate me even more! Now I know that he hates me, it will only make me train harder. This is a step down for me. Me going into this fight is going down a couple of levels. There are bigger names, tougher fights. But I had to give this to the British fans. So, I’ve had to step down to give him a beating and show the British public who the best is.”

Kell Brook: “It’s personal. It’s not made up. We dislike each other. I’ve got the grudge match of my career. I haven’t lost anything. I might be 35. But Terence Crawford is 34, so is Shawn Porter, and they just had an epic fight. Crawford is one of the best pound-for-pound. I’ve still got the power, still got the timing, the experience. It will be one of my best performances. It’s about bragging rights. Imagine – whoever loses has to live with it for the rest of their lives. I will put myself through hell in training. I looked into his eyes – he knows that I’m coming. He never wanted this fight but he’s been backed into a corner. I’ve wanted it for years.”

Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports: “Amir Khan against Kell Brook is here at last and we’ll bring you an unforgettable evening of action as these two huge names in British boxing finally settle that long-running rivalry. Khan and Brook have been asked about this fight for a decade, despite their success as world champions, and now we get the answer in Manchester on February 19. We’ve covered some of the biggest fights in the careers of Khan and Brook, but this one is special – a heated feud has simmered for years and there’s so much pride at stake. Will it be Khan or Brook who wins? It’s a real 50-50 fight and you’ll find out in February!”
