Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat (Monday, 03:45 GMT)
Brisbane Heat go into Monday’s clash with bottom club Melbourne Renegades knowing victory will see them clinch a play-off berth. They are currently in seventh position thanks to wins for Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder, but their future is in their own hands.
They boosted their chances of making the play-offs with a stunning 71-run victory over leaders Melbourne Stars on Saturday. The Heat batted first and hit 186 off 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. South African international AB de Villiers top-scored for Brisbane as he smashed 71 from 37 deliveries with two fours and six sixes.
The Renegades, on the other hand, are out of play-off contention as they sit at the bottom of the rankings with just two wins all year. Their last victory was a 44-run success over Monday’s opponents. They reached 164-6 off their 20 overs with Beau Webster hitting 36 from 26 balls. In reply, they reduced the Heat to 120 all-out with Cameron Boyce finishing with figures of 4-15 off four overs.
The Heat should be focused on getting the win their need and should have no real problems this time around. We are backing AB de Villiers to once again star with the bat for Brisbane.
