888 Pacific Poker

Summary

Part of the 888 / Casino-on-Net brand, Pacific Poker rakes in a bevy of gamblers, making low and mid stakes games some of the softest online. There's a plethora of tournaments, including satellites to the Aussie Millions, Australian Poker League and 'Poker Boat Tour'. If you can get past the pretty mediocre software, there's plenty of money to be won at Pacific Poker.

Key Tournaments

Pacific Poker fairs alot better in terms of tournament variety. As well as a plethora of freerolls and micro buy-in tournaments for as little as $0.88, there are round the clock satellites to live events, including the Aussie Millions, Poker Boat Tour and 888 Pacific Poker Open. There are numerous, mid stakes rebuy tournaments, and the $109 buy-in, $10k guaranteed Tuesday Challenge caters for the highrollers.

Game Variety

Pacific Poker offers a decent variety of poker games: Hold'em (No Limit, Fixed Limit, Pot Limit), Omaha (Hi, Hi-Lo), 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo, however there are no Razz and mixed games. There are also games with a progressive bad beat jackpot.

Traffic

Cash game traffic is centered around the Hold’em games, but a decent amount of players can be found in Omaha Hi Lo and 7 card stud. Cash game traffic tops 2,500 at peak times. You'll never find problems joining games up to the $2/$4 level. From $5/$10 onwards, play tends to centre more around heads up, with a host of regulars.

Rake

Rake at Pacific Poker is in accordance with the industry average and like most sites adopts a 'no flop, no drop' policy, which means the pot is only raked when the flop is viewed.

For Limit games, rake is 5% up to $15/$30 blinds, where it drops to 2.5% with a max cap of $3 for a full table. It drops even more for the nosebleed stakes.

For No-Limit and Pot-Limit, rake at the micro-stakes is a little over 6%. From 5¢/10¢ up the rake is 5% up to $25/$50, where it's a flat $3.

Cap at a full table is $4, which is approximately $1 higher than the average site.

Competition

There are a lot of loose games at Pacific Poker, with viewed flop percentages hitting 70% at some tables. Where most sites have Hold’em as their primary fishing grounds, PacificPoker’s Omaha Hi Lo games are fairly loose as well. Due to the influx of gamblers (Casino-on-Net operates the biggest online gambling network and has been around since 1996), low and mid stakes games really are juicy. A lot of the players on Pacific Poker are weak, passive calling stations, so any tight aggressive player with an eye for a good value bet should prosper.

Support

The Pacific Poker support email is support@pacificpoker.com, and there are also phone support (800-480-5186) and live chat options as well. Live chat can take a few moments for operators to log on during peak hours, but for the most part all support is quick and effective.
