AVC Women's Asian Cup Volleyball Championship - Three teams still unbeaten in Almaty

Three teams have yet to taste defeat after two days of competition in the AVC Women's Asian Cup Volleyball Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Thailand and Kazakhstan lead Pool A with six points apiece. The Thais swept Chinese Taipei 25–15 25–22 25–19 yesterday for their second win in a row. 

Onuma Sittirak fired 18 points while Tapaphaipun Chaisri and team captain Wilavan Apinyapong added 12 pointa apiece for the Southeast Asian powerhouse.

The Kazakhs, meanwhile, are coming off a 3-1 (25-18 16-25 25-22 25-21) victory over South Korea. Alena Omelchenko topscored for the home team with 15 points.

Thailand and Kazakhstan fight for the top spot in the group today. The winner will take on the fourth-ranked team in Pool B in the quarterfinal.

In Pool B, China continued its dominance with a 25-12 25-18 25-23 victory over Vietnam. Hu Ruoqi was again China's top scorer, tallying 15 points.
