Maria Kirilenko and Sabine Lisicki look set to clash in the WTA Pattaya City final after both blondes reached the semi-finals.
Kirilenko reached the Pattaya City final last year and the second seed will be hoping to go one better after reaching the last four with a 7-6, 6-3 win over compatriot Elena Vesnina. Vesnina made the Hobart final last month and reached the Australian Open fourth round and Kirilenko has plenty of praise for her compatriot's play.
"Match was really good and interesting to watch! Well done to Elena for big improvement!" she tweeted.
Vesnina herself also said that the standard of the match was high. "Had good match with Maria," she commented. "Even though we played a couple of marathon matches yesterday, today we were fighting till the end.Shame it wasn't shown on TV."
In the second semi-final fifth seed Lisicki will play Russian Nina Bratchikova. Lisicki dropped her first set of the tournament in the quarters against New Zealand's Marina Erakovic but world number 130 Bratchikova will be tricky after seeing off Ana Ivanovic's conqueror Ayumi Morita in the last eight.
