Following an announcement of his withdrawal, many fans were left wondering if Rafael Nadal would be competing at the 2013 Monte Carlo Masters.

It's funny how quickly rumours can spread. Following an announcement by TennisWorldUSA, word got out that Rafael Nadal would be pulling out of the 2013 Monte Carlo Masters. The knee injury that has plagued him of late was cited as the reason for the withdrawal, and numerous Rafa fans were saddened by the news.

The announcement was later revealed to be an April Fools hoax to the relief of many. Rafael Nadal will indeed be returning to Monte Carlo this season and he'll have a ninth consecutive title firmly in his sights. The French Open champion takes an astonishing 44-1 record into the tournament, and in Monaco he's sure to pick up his aura of invincibility once again.

Nadal will be joined by Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Roger Federer, however, will remain out of action as he continues his break from the ATP World Tour.
