Highly regarded Ballydoyle inmate St Nicholas Abby will be given another chance to justify his lofty reputation when he tackles the Ormonde Stakes at Chester on Friday.

Aidan O’Brien’s 2009 Racing Post Trophy winner has been a huge disappointment ever since his sensational two-year-old campaign and absent for almost a year after he fluffed his lines in the 2010 2000 Guineas, he returned with another below-par effort at the Curragh last month.

It’s interesting that connections of the horse retain the faith and they’ll be hoping that the son of Montjeu can take this on the way to bigger and better things.

There is also Group Three action in the shape of the Addleshaw Goddard Dee Stakes and Chester favourite Barry Hills will be hoping that Maqaraat can get off the mark on his leap into Group company.

He is sure to be popular but the opposition looks formidable and with Glen’s Diamond and The Paddyman also set for the race, it looks like it could be a strong contest on the final day of another memorable meeting at Chester.
