Monterrey entertain Seattle Sounders on Tuesday night in Group D of the CONCACAF Champions League.
Defending champions Monterrey sit atop the Group D standings following the opening round of fixtures in this competition. Dario Carreno struck three times in 14 minutes as they romped to a 5-0 victory over Herediano in their first game in this season’s competition, with Jesus Corona and Aldo de Nigris adding the other goals.
Seattle Sounders FC also began their campaign in spectacular fashion with a 4-1 hammering of Comunicaciones. The American Major League Soccer fell behind inside the opening two minutes but came storming back as Michael Fucito’s double helped them to maximum points and second place in the standings after Game One.
The bookmakers make Monterrey the favourites to win this match, but Seattle Sounders FC, two-time winners of the US Open Cup, will be a sterner test than Herediano if the opening round of games are anything to go by.
