Liverpool supporters will gladly wait a little longer for their club to be removed from the hands of George Gillett and Tom Hicks if it ensures that the new owners are the right people to take the club forward.
Liverpool FC has been shackled by the American duo’s debt for years, although there is light at the end of the tunnel, with Christian Purslow confirming that a number of written bids for the club had been received and that the board would be examining them carefully this week.
"We have had a number of bids for the club. We will take time to examine those extremely carefully," he said.
"Second to that is [the need] to sell the club as soon as possible."
"We will make sure we take our time," he continued.
"I am not going to put a time limit on it. The challenge now is to sort the wheat from the chaff.
"I would not expect it to be a lifetime - but I would not expect it to be tomorrow either.
"We have just received some written bids at this stage, and it would be wrong to characterise anybody as a front-runner."
It is thought that Yahya Kirdi and Kenny Huang’s consortiums are two of the interested parties and hopefully it won’t be long before a deal is completed.
