Forest Green Rovers boss Dave Hockaday is weighing up whether to unleash Reece Styche against Luton Town on Tuesday.
The one-time Hatters target was excused for Saturday's 3-1 loss to Hayes and Yeading United to be with his partner and newborn son Carter Rui.
And having recently recovered from a knee operation in September, Hockaday is wary of rushing the striker's return.
"We told Reece to stay away after his partner had a baby in the early hours of Saturday morning," Hockaday told This is Gloucestershire.
"But he's come through a reserve game and obviously he's been a big miss for us this season.
"We would have liked some of the chances we missed on Saturday to fall to him because you know where they are going to end up.
"We'll see what condition he's in physically and mentally before taking a decision."
