Team Sky rider Bradley Wiggins is now odds-on to win the Tour de France after strengthening his position as yellow jersey holder.
Bradley Wiggins is now odds-on 8-11 (from 11-10) with Coral
bookmakers to become the first Britain ever to win the Tour De France, after another good performance in the second mountain stage saw him hold on to the leader’s yellow jersey.
Nearest challenger, defending champion Cadel Evans, failed to claw back any time from the Briton, and remains ten seconds adrift.
Coral spokesman Gary Burton told Bettingpro:
“As expected, Wiggins covered every move and looked strong in yellow, and with a favoured time trial to come next, the rest have a lot of work to do to take the jersey away from him,”
The days stage winner, Frenchman Thibaut Pinot, is now the 6-1 second favourite to win the King of the Mountains polka dot jersey and just 15-8 (from 8-1) to claim the white jersey for the leading rider under 25.
