Zimbabwe will be looking for a change of fortunes when they take on Bangladesh in the second of their three-match One Day International series which will be played at Bulawayo on Sunday, May 5.
The home team will be under massive pressure to perform after the visitors literally dismantled them in a 121 run defeat in the first game of the series.
A loss in the second game would mean that the visitors win the trophy which would be unacceptable to the fans of the home team.
There are some very talented cricketers in their ranks, although thanks to the fact that these players do not get to play against the top teams in world cricket, their skills have not reached their peaks which is a shame of sorts.
For instance, a player with the caliber of Brendon Taylor definitely deserves to test himself against the best oppositions. The men who will be key to Zimbabwe’s hopes in the next match will be Taylor, and Shingi Masakadza, who put in a fantastic all-round show in the last match.
Bangladesh, on the other hand will be able to take the field on Sunday with a positive frame of mind and full of confidence.
Their performance in the series opener was nothing short of fantastic. In conditions away from home, the Bangladeshi’s kept the momentum going for them even after they lost four wickets. At the end of the day, it was that courage and determination to push on and post a big total that ultimately won the match for Bangladesh.
Once again, the key men for Bangladesh will be Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain and Ziaur Rahman. It is good to see the Bangladeshi’s play the sport as a unit and one can certainly expect a good match on Sunday.
