The IPL 2014 auction will be hosted in Bangalore and both the Indian sports channel from Sony, Six and Six HD, will telecast it live. If the auction does not finish by February 12, it will continue on February 13.
With a total of more than 500 players to be auctioned this season, there's a good chance that the auction will spill over to the second day as well.
Eight teams will participate in the IPL auction this season, after the Pune Warriors, a team from last year was disbanded by the BCCI. A total of 219 players, 169 Indians and 50 from abroad, form a part of the capped players list, while there will also be another 292 uncapped players in the pool, including 255 Indians. This will be the first time that uncapped Indian players will be bought over at an IPL auction.
Every team can select up to 27 players in their squad. Some of the teams have already retained a few players from the previous season with the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals having held on to the maximum allowed five players each.
As was the case with the previous auctions, British auctioneer Richard Madley will conduct this one as well.
Among the main players who will go under the hammer are Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Michael Hussey, Zaheer Khan and Brendon McCullum.
The IPL 2014 auction begins at 9 am India time (3.30 am GMT) on February 12.
