Olympiacos play host to Anadolu Efes in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 and you can watch all the action live online.
Two classic Turkish Airlines Euroleague squads meet in a pivotal showdown in Group E, as Olympiacos BC Pireaus hosts Anadolu Efes on Wednesday at 19:45 CET.
Olympiacos (0-2) needs to bounce back right away to keep its options alive and Efes (1-1) would take a giant step forward in the play-offs if it beats the Reds on the road.
Efes has won 4 of its last 5 games in the Pireaus but Olympiacos won their last showdown, 105-90, in the 2009-10 Euroleague regular season.
Efes will try to grab its fourth road win in this Euroleague season, but Olympiacos has the support of its home crowd in a must-win situation, which could make the difference.
Other than Olympiacos forward Panos Vasilopoulos, who was activated but hasn't returned to the floor yet, the Reds have a full team available. Efes has no injury problems this week, but Vlado Ilievski has not played yet in the Top 16.
Efes' number one priority will be slowing Vassilis Spanoulis, whose ball handling, leadership, deep range and experience make him the clear leader for Olympiacos.
Spanoulis will get plenty of help at both guards, as the Reds can turn to sharp shooter Martynas Gecevicius, young playmakers Kostas Sloukas and Evangelos Mantzaris, point guard Acie Law and defensive stopper Michalis Pelekanos.
Efes' best perimeter defenders, Kerem Tunceri and Sinan Guler, will see time against Spanoulis, but the Reds’ star will also get the chance to test his one-on-one skills against Sasha Vujacic, a superb scorer.
For the most part, however, Vujacic will face Pelekanos, a quick, hard-nosed defender. Meanwhile, Tunceri and Oliver Lafayette need to exploit their experience against Sloukas and Mantzaris. Law may see more playing time against Tunceri, as he faced Efes twice with Partizan earlier this season.
The key match-ups are at small forward, where Tarence Kinsey can use his size and athleticism against Kostas Papanikolaou, and at power forward, where Dusko Savanovic will test his post moves and one-on-one skills against two different players – Pero Antic and Georgios Printezis, both good offensive rebounders who will make him work.
Joey Dorsey and Kyle Hines will split playing time for Olympiacos at center. Hines must use his jumping skills and energy against Esteban Batista while Antic and Dorsey will battle against centres Stanko Barac and Ermal Kuqo.
Olympiacos must power the offensive board and get Spanoulis involved, while Efes needs a good game from Kinsey and Savanovic.
