2011 Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden powered to a sensational victory in the BMW Caulfield Cup on Saturday.
The superstar defied top weight to come from the back of the pack and swamp a top class field under the hands of Craig Williams. The Mikel Delzangles six-year-old had to overcome an outside draw and it was an impressive prep for the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on Tuesday 6th November.
The French raider finished half a length clear of Alcopop in the Group One highlight and a thrilled Williams’explained: : "There's nothing better than winning races like this but to enjoy it with a horse that I've got such a great affinity with and also the people around that make it that more special.
"This horse's story is amazing and it's about him today."
Meanwhile, All roads for Dunaden will again lead to Melbourne for the Flemington highlight on November 6.
David Redvers, racing manager for owner Sheikh Fahad, tweeted: "Without doubt Dunaden is horse of a lifetime and to think Mikel's only concern last night was that he felt he was two pieces short of work.
"Whilst in awe of Dunaden, must not forget that was some training performance and one brilliant ride from that draw.
"Getting quite weepy now."
