Englishman will officiate Spain v Holland on Sunday

English referee Howard Webb has been chosen by FIFA to officiate the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and Holland on Sunday.

The 38-year-old from Rotherham will be the first Englishman to officiate a World Cup final for 36-years and will be joined in Soccer City Stadium by assistants Darren Cann and Michael Mullarkey.

Premier League chief Richard Scudamore said of FIFA’s appointment

"We see the hard work and professionalism of Howard Webb, Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey week in, week out when they are officiating in the Barclays Premier League.

"So, it is great to see their fantastic season, where they have already represented English refereeing in the UEFA Champions League Final, topped off with the ultimate appointment - the FIFA World Cup Final."
