A William Hill customer lost 500,000 euros last night on Germany qualifying for World Cup 2010 final

A William Hill client last night placed the biggest World Cup bet of all time on Germany qualifying for the World Cup final.

The punter ignored Paul the German Psychic Octopus' advice and backed Germany despite the Octopus firmly backing Spain to win Last Night's encounter.

The punter staked 500,000 euros on Joachim Low’s side going through to the final at the expense of Spain in tonight’s semi final, at odds of 10/11. Had he won he would have made an incredible 954,000 euros!

Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe told Bettingpro:

"There has never been a bigger World Cup bet placed and it follows a number of other hefty wagers on the Germans to win the tournament - I bet our client wishes he had listened to the Octopus"
