Joe Stevenson v Spencer Fisher tips

- 24 Oct 2009

Joe Stevenson takes on Spencer Fisher in one of two Lightweight bouts at UFC 104 on Saturday night.

Both have vast experience in a busy 155lb division in the UFC with 'Daddy' Stevenson favourites to be victorious in Los Angeles.

Stevenson, who at time of writing is trading at 1.44 with Betfair, won last time out against Nate Diaz at The Ultimate Fighter 9 finale, but that came after losses to Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian at UFC 95 and UFC 91 respectively.

Those losses ended a decent run for the 27-year-old, who before then had one lost once since 2006 when he was destroyed by B.J. Penn at UFC 80.

Stevenson has proven that his submission and takedown game is dangerous, which makes the 3.1 with Betfair on the Californian winning in his home state via submission an attractive bet.

His opponent Spencer Fisher is a long-time MMA veteran who has won his last three outings in the Octagon. Victor Chandler offer 2/1 on the 33-year-old winning on Saturday night which looks to be a decent price, as does the 2.88 on Betfair for those betting on the exchanges.

But while Fisher has a solid submission game and good striking, there are questions over whether or not he can put together a run and earn a title shot.

The key to victory for Fisher will be whether he is able to cope with Stevenson's takedowns. If he can deal with them, he could get this won. But Stevenson's wrestling could prove to be too much for Fisher in the latter stages of the contest.

Recommended bets:
- Stevenson via submission @ 3.1 with Betfair
- Stevenson via decision @ 1.82
