Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir tips - UFC 100

Bettingpro Staff - 3 Jun 2009

Brock Lesnar is the early odds-on favourite to beat Frank Mir in their heavyweight clash at the UFC's landmark UFC 100 event on July 11.

Lesnar takes on Mir for the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Title in a rematch from UFC 81 in February 2008.

On that occasion, Lesnar lost via first-round submission in his UFC debut, but a lot has happened since then and the wrestler-turned-fighter heads to Las Vegas in July as UFC Heavyweight champion following his TKO win over MMA legend Randy Couture at UFC 91.

Lesnar vs. Mir II is a bout which was originally scheduled for UFC 98, but was put back due to an injury to the Mir, the current UFC Interim Heavyweight champions.

The clash at UFC 100 is quite literally the big fight of the night and the pay-per-view is bound to do massive numbers for Dana White's company.

Lesnar has brought a number of casual fans over the UFC with him and those fans betting on Lesnar no doubt have had an impact on the early betting.

But although Lesnar was convincingly beaten last time he faced Mir, he will no doubt be better equipped to avoid being submitted by Mir on the ground this time around.

Mir is without doubt one of the best submission fighters in the UFC, but his stand-up game has improved recently, as he proved in his fight with Minotauro Nogueira for the interim belt.

Boylesports make former WWE star Lesnar 2/5 favourite to win the main event clash on July 11, with Mir best priced 2/1 with bet365 some five weeks out from the UFC's historic event.
