Brock Lesnar will face Shane Carwin in the main event at UFC 116 on July 3rd

Heavyweight Champion Lesnar will meet Interim champion Carwin in Las Vegas following Carwin's impressive first-round win over Frank Mir on Saturday night at UFC 111.

Carwin went 12-0 after again recording a first round win,  keeping intact his incredible record of never being taken to a second round in a professional fight as he made light work for Frank Mir.

As pointed out before UFC 111, Carwin was 11/4 with Paddy Power to win in the first round, so well done if you got involved there.

Carwin was scheduled to fight Lesnar twice before, first at UFC 106 last November and then at UFC 108 in January. But champion Lesnar was forced out of both events due to a severe case of diverticulitis, which at one point was life-threatening.

The former wrestler has completed a remarkable return to full fitness just months after his career was in jeopardy and was cageside Saturday night to watch Carwin move to 4-0 in the UFC.

Lesnar will go into UFC 116 with a 4-1 record (3-1 UFC), although those who usually back him may be weary of doing so this time around due to his year-long layoff.

Odds for Lesnar v Carwin are yet to be made available for what is set to be a blockbuster
main event at UFC 116, not only in terms of public interest and pay-per-view buys, but also in betting activity.
