Venus Williams 4/6 favourite to win Wimbledon Visit SkyBet Save For Later Posted by Bettingpro Staff 2 Jul 2009 Tweet Related Articles See all Tennis news Share it Pin It Venus Williams is the 4/6 favourite with Sky Bet to claim the women's title at Wimbledon on Saturday after setting up a final with her sister Serena. The five-time champion was a picture of power and precision as she defeated world number one Dinara Safina 6-1 6-0 in just 51 minutes, after Serena earlier had won an epic three-sets semi-final against Elena Dementieva. There was no way Venus was being sucked into such a dogfight and outclassed Safina from the moment she settled into her big-hitting groove, winning the first nine points of the match and breaking the Safina service in the process. From then she never looked back and dropped just one game as she maintained her awesome 100% record of semi-final victories at SW19 - this was her eighth out of eight. Serena is Sky Bet's 6/5 outsider following her titanic struggle against Dementieva in the longest women's semi-final in history. The 27-year-old American was forced to produce all her battling qualities to overcome a spirited Dementieva, who produced a brilliant performance but still bowed out at the last-four stage for the second year in a row. Serena saved a match point in the second set before forcing a decider and winning 6-7 (7/4) 7-5 8-6 in an epic duel on Centre Court that lasted 12 minutes short of three hours.
