Once again, Novak Djokovic is into the last four of the US Open, something that he seems to manage every year. The Serbian was a semi-final loser in 2008 and 2009 and the man who beat him on both occasions was Roger Federer! It's no surprise to see that Boylesports are making the Swiss the 1/3 favourite to once again book is place in yet another final.

Federer looked back to his devastating best in his quarter-final win over Robin Soderling, beating the Swede in straight sets and it is difficult to see Djokovic being able to beat the world number two, who has been champion at Flushing Meadows in five of the last six years.

Djokovic, who is 11/4 at bet365 to beat his US Open nemesis, was a straight sets winner in his quarter-final against Gael Monfils, hasn’t lost a set in New York since the first round, when he was pushed all the way by friend and compatriot Viktor Troicki.

That is impressive, but Monfils was beaten as much by the wind on Arthur Ashe as he was by Djokovic and the fact that Friday’s match will take place in the afternoon, when temperatures will be at their hottest will be a problem for the serve, who struggles to cope with heat and humidity.

Federer has only ever lost one set to Djokovic at Flushing Meadows, in three meetings with the Serb and he is unlikely to be taken to five sets on Saturday. It is 5/6 at Sky Bet that the Swiss beats a 4.5 game handicap against the fourth seed and that looks like a good bet, as it should be secured easily by a straight sets win and even a 3-1 victory for Federer (13/5, SportingBet) can see him cover the line.

Recommendation

Match Handicap (- 4.5 Games) – Roger Federer (5/6, Sky Bet)
