Serena Williams beat Venus Williams to end her sister's dominance at Wimbledon with a straight-sets victory that earned Serena a third Wimbledon title.

It was the fourth time the sisters had met in a Wimbledon final. Serena has now won 11 Grand Slam titles and holds the Wimbledon, Australian and US Open crowns.

The Williams sisters have dominated the sport in recent years and the 2009 Wimbledon final marked the eighth time in 10 years that a Williams sisters lifted the Venus Rosewater Dish.

"It feels so amazing, I'm so blessed," Serena said after her victory.

"I feel like I shouldn't be holding the trophy, it's like I'm holding Venus's trophy."

After the match a clearly sad Venus confessed: "I've had so many great times here and of course I'm looking forward to next year and the doubles final later. I love what I do and most of all I love playing these finals."
