Australian Open Novak Djokovic is 5/2 with bet365 to win the 2012 French Open as he goes in search of the “Novak Slam”.

Djokovic’s victory in Australia earlier this year means he is the only man able to win all four Grand Slams in 2012, but Roland Garros glory continues to elude him. The French Open is the only Grand Slam tournament Djokovic has not won, and for him to end his duck he, or someone else, will have to stop claycourt king Rafael Nadal – and that is easier said than done.

Djokovic has never reached the final of the season’s second Grand Slam, with his best performances coming in the form of semi-final defeats in 2007, 2008 and 2011. He is 9/4 with William Hill to go one better this time but lose in the final, while another semi-final exit is priced at 3/1 with Paddy Power and BetVictor.

The world number one’s history in this competition means it is not inconceivable that he could bow out of this competition earlier. Coral are offering 8/1 that Djokovic crashes out in the quarter-finals, while they are 12/1 about him tasting defeat in round four at Roland Garros.

Djokovic opens his campaign against Potito Starace and it is no surprise to see him being made the 1/66 favourite with Boylesports. Italian Starace is 33/1 with Paddy Power to pull off a huge upset to send the Serb home after just one match.
