Weekend at the Australian Open 2013 begins on Saturday with top seeded Victoria Azarenka and second seeded Roger Federer in third round action.
Azarenka will be first on court at the Rod Laver Arena as she takes on USA's Jamie Hampton in their third round match. Azarenka demolished Eleni Daniilidou in her second round match while Hampton overcame Thai qualifier Luksika Kumkhum in her previous match.
Third seeded Serena Williams will follow Azarenka on court as looks to overcome Japan's Ayumi Morita in her third round after having dropped only two games in her first two rounds so far.
Men's third seeded Andy Murray will also be in round three action taking on qualifier Ricardas Berankis while Federer will take court in the evening session.
Federer will be up against crowd favourite Bernard Tomic, whose form in the leadup to this match has been exemplary. While Federer has won all their three previous meetings, Tomic had recently beaten Novak Djokovic in a Hopman Cup match and could give his opponent a tough fight.
Hisense Arena will have 14th seeded Maria Kirilenko play Yanina Wickmayer in a tough third-round encounter before the sixth seeded Juan Martin del Potro takes on Jeremy Chardy. Tenth seeded Caroline Wozniacki will also hope to make it to the round of 16 when she plays Lesia Tsurenko in the afternoon.
Later in the evening, Gilles Simon takes on Gael Monfils, in an all-French battle that should go the distance. While Simon leads the head to head 3-1, expect Monfils to fight hard here.
Margaret Court Arena will have seventh seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga taking on Blaz Kavcic in another third round encounter. On Show Court 3, 13th seeded Milos Raonic will look to overcome the 17th seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber in a third round match.
