The Spaniard produces a devastating performance to beat Fernando Verdasco and is now evens to win his first title at Flushing Meadows

Roger Federer was strong favourite to land a sixth US Open victory before the tournament began, although a series of excellent displays by Rafael Nadal has seen the world number one now become favourite to finally break his duck at Flushing Meadows.

Bet365 and William Hill now offer even money that the Spaniard finally tastes success on the hard courts of New York, with Ladbrokes trimming Nadal’s odds on glory to 5/6.

He faces Mikhail Youzhny in the semi-final and appears to be on a collision course to meet Roger Federer in the final of the 2010 US Open.

Federer has also yet to drop a set in this tournament and Ladbrokes offer an eye-catching 11/8 that he regains the US Open crown after losing to Juan Martin Del Potro in the final twelve months ago.

Novak Djokovic is a 7/1 chance (bet365) on the outright market, with Youzhny available at 40/1 with Paddy Power to pull off a shock triumph.
