Ronnie O’Sullivan is on course to win his fourth world title after establishing an overnight 10-7 lead against Ali Carter in the World Snooker Championship final, with the two players resuming their Crucible clash on Monday afternoon.

The Rocket managed two centuries along with a break of 92 in the first eight frames, although Carter will be satisfied to be in the match considering he was 9-5 down with three frames to play on Sunday evening.

Carter seems intent on making the frames as scrappy as possible and the Captain’s tactics are probably right the way considering the 32-year-old stands little chance of outscoring O’Sullivan.

Even so, the Rocket is massive favourite to repeat his 2008 final victory over the same player, with the bookies now offering 1/9 about O’Sullivan compared to the 6/1 about Carter.

The frame score betting is pretty interesting, with some expecting Ronnie to pull right away from his opponent and you can get 50/1 about him winning the next eight frames and making it an 18-7 victory. 

A more likely scenario is that Carter wins a handful of frames and that Ronnie wins by an 18-11 scoreline, something that is on offer at 6/1.
