Darren Morgan, Gary Wilkinson, Steve Ventham and Karl Townsend all won through the World Seniors qualifiers to book their place in the main event in November.

The quartet join legends of the game including Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor and Cliff Thorburn in the newly revamped TV event at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on November 5-6.

Former World number eight Morgan defeated David Roe 2-0 in his final qualifying match at the South West Snooker Academy. The Welshman, a former World Amateur Champion, compiled top runs of 54 and 33 in the process.

Wilkinson, a former top professional, who now works for World Snooker as an event assisstant, edged out Tony Chappel 2-1 in his final match. Chappel claimed the opening frame with a 54, but Wilkinson edged a gruelling 46-minute second frame on the blue, then won the decider with a crucial 39.

47-year-old Townsend, returned to the baize to beat David Singh and John McBride, booking his place in the finals after a 2-0 win over Steve Meakin in Gloucester.

Surrey cueist Ventham, came from behind to beat Barry Stark 2-1 with a top run of 32.

Former Masters finalist, now television Snooker pundit Mike Hallett failed to make the grade however, losing out to eventual qualifier Morgan in round two.

The four losing quarter finalists receive £750, with first round losers in the main championship guaranteed at least £1000. The total prize money on offer is £53,000, with the winner to pocket a cheque for £18,000.

Jimmy White will begin the defence of his title when he faces former world number two Tony Knowles on November 5.
