The Basildon ace stunned the world finalist with a terrific performance to book his place in the next round, where he will face John Higgins.

The outcome did not come as a huge shock, as Bingham won the season's first ranking event - The Australian Goldfields Open.

He produced top breaks of 129 and 112, equalling the highest break of the tournament so far.

Trump's poor start to the season continues, this his second first round exit out of the two ranking events played so far.

Elsewhere, Graeme Dott was put out by Michael Holt 5-2, as world number one Mark Williams and world champion John Higgins both secured routine wins to reach the last 16.
