Ronnie O’Sullivan produced some excellent snooker at the World Snooker Championship to lead Dominic Dale 7-2

It took a little while for the Rocket to explode into action on Monday afternoon, although Ronnie O’Sullivan won five consecutive frames to take control of his first round match against Dominic Dale.

O’Sullivan leads 7-2 after the first session and sponsors Betfred reacted by cutting him from a pre-match 8/1 on the outright market to 6/1, with Ronnie in better form than has been displayed over the past few weeks.

John Higgins remains favouirte with many bookmakers to win the 2011 World Snooker Championship, although Mark Selby continues to be well backed despite not having yet played a shot. Here are the best odds for the outright market.

2011 World Snooker Championship odds
John Higgins – 11/2 with Sportingbet
Mark Selby – 11/2 with Betfred
Ronnie O’Sullivan – 6/1 with Betfred
Ding Junhui – 13/2 with Betfred
Mark Williams – 13/2 with Ladbrokes
Shaun Murphy – 14/1 with bet365
Judd Trump – 14/1 with Sportingbet
Mark Allen – 22/1 with Betfred
